TAG Heuer Carrera MP4-12C Chronograph Review

Tag Heuer combined sapphire and Carbon-fiber (one of McLaren’s favorite materials). This is why MP4-12C looks completely different then all other Carrera watches. A large circle sapphire window, in the center of the black Carbon-Fiber dial shows the in-side of the watch – two Grand Date wheels and the perpetual calendar wheel. Sapphire crystal also reveals a date window and two chronograph sub-dials – the 30 minutes counter, at 9 o’clock and the 60 seconds sub-dial, at 3 o’clock position.

This unique dial reflects the design of car’s dashboard, of course, with different features. McLaren’s dashboard also features central circle, with smaller inserts on both sides. A font used for white hour numerals is the same one that McLaren put on its Tachometer. Also, instead of 12, the Carrera MP4-12C Chronograph has a large Orange “0″. A watch possesses the tachymeter scale, inscribed on a bezel.

Carrera MP4-12C chronograph has the unique movement. Swiss watchmaker decided that a special design needed to be followed by special mechanism, never used before in Tag Heuer watches.

Transparent sapphire case back allows a clear look at the Calibre 49 automatic movement, which is based on the super-quality chronograph Dubois Depraz 4900. It comprises 47 jewels, oscillates at frequency of 28’800 vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of 44 hours.
